This was never more demonstrated to me this month working on the Lenten meal. We had a plan, we had people signed up for food that was needed and we were set! How wonderful that we can do that on our own. However, in God's wisdom, which I like to refer to his sense of humor, He had other people and plans in mind. One by oneI had people calling me telling me that this had come up and they were not able to help. Rest assured these were valid, unavoidable reasons. My first response was to panic!! We are not suppose to panic but it is our nature (at least mine) to do just that. I had to remind myself over and over of Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God." Then further down in verse 19 is says "My God shall supply all your needs,, according to HIS riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Through this God was amazing, as one person to cancel another call would come in asking to help. He continued to show me this all the way up until the Sunday before the Lenten meal. During greeting one of the ladies came to me and could not do her salad because her father had become very ill, I told her then that it would all work out and that her focus needed to be her dad. God is so amazing that He did not even allow two minutes to pass, same greeting time, another person came forward to help with the meal. He demonstrated again that HE will provide. It is his plan!
The meal on Thursday went very well, God provided enough and though we did not have twelve baskets of food left, He indeed multiplied it to help even help feed people for another meal on Saturday.
I need to be reminded to always go to God before I try figure things out. His plan is ALWAYS best. I am thankful that he holds and sustains me. He provides for all my needs according to HIS riches. His are far greater than my own.
