A note from Pastor Chip Collins
I can't tell you how glad I am to be your pastor! Suzie and I look forward to many, many
wonderful years together with the body of Christ here at Clarkson Baptist Church.
I am a simple man, and therefore like simple things and especially when it comes to how
we will "do church" here. I've already shared it with you, but it is something we will be
referring to all the time, and that is h3f: head, heart, hands, feet. I want us to be
intentional about understanding the gospel better in every sermon and Bible study (head),
submitting to the gospel in specific, personal ways everytime we hear it (heart), living out
the gospel in service to one another (hands), and taking the gospel out from our meeting
place into the market place (feet). And in so doing, we will seek to keep everything we
do Christ-centered and Cross-focused (c3f).
I said it was simple--I didn’t say it would be easy! Without the Lord’s help we will
always drift toward man-centered religion that is devoid of the Cross and its demands on
our lives. Without the Lord’s help we will tend to think we already know enough about
the gospel, we will not submit our hearts to gospel truth and change our ways in order to
match that gospel truth, we will not truly love one another so that the world sees the
gospel in us, and we will certainly not go out and tell anyone about the gospel of Jesus
Christ. Oh, God help us! Yes, please join with me in this constant prayer, “Oh, God
help us! Help us understand, help us submit, help us live, help us go!”
Do you think the Lord would answer such a prayer? I do!
To the praise of His glory,
Chip
